If you want an online business then you will need to create a website. You will need a domain name and a hosting account. In this article I’ll discuss how to choose and find a domain name.
When you come to decide what to call for your website, think about the subject or niche of your business. Is it your own name important or a website brand name important?
If you are marketing yourself and services, then you would most likely want to choose a domain name that is your name.
If your site is about flower arrangement then you may want to choose a domain name that describes what your site is about e.g. prettyflowers.com or floraldesigns.com.
Whatever name you decide upon make sure that it is easy to remember and gives your visitors an idea of what your site be about.
I use NameCheap for purchasing domain names and also for finding out whether a domain name is available or not. It is free to join, relatively cheap (it costs around $10 per year for a domain name) and they provide a reliable service.
Whois Guard is also a good option to be considered buying along when purchasing domain name. Whois allows its subscribers to keep their personal details private if someone is going to look to see the website owners’ information.
Questions, issues or concerns? I'd love to help you!
